ÁLVARO TEIXEIRA LOPES

Alvaro Teixeira Lopes’ leit-motiv:
“When poetry becomes music and the piano becomes an instrument that sings and talks, we get to the essence, to the most important: pure beauty”.

Álvaro Teixeira Lopes is Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication and Art at Aveiro University, as well as the Artistic Director of Santa Cecilia International Competition (CISC), and Director of Curso de Música Silva Monteiro (CMSM).

Álvaro Teixeira Lopes attended the Conservatório de Música do Porto, and continued his studies in Vienna and Paris as a fellow of Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian and the Austrian Government and the Secretary of State for Culture.

Awarded with several prizes, he developed intense national and international activities as a soloist and chamber musician and has been invited play in the some of the most prestigious festivals internationally.

He has directed numerous courses in interpretation and piano pedagogy in Portugal and in Salerno, Italy.

Frequently invited to join panels of piano competitions, he has been a jury member of the XI, XV and XX International Piano Competition in the City of Porto.
